New work 🎉 There are lots of young banksias aro New work 🎉 There are lots of young banksias around where I live. They are my companions as I jog around the neighbourhood, watching spring arrive here in Melbourne. The fresh crisp air fills me with joy, hope and inspiration. I wanted to capture that magic that you can literally breathe in, like fairy dust in the air. #WIP 💖 I am so excited about how this painting #WIP 💖 I am so excited about how this painting is evolving. I’ve been living with it for a while now, attending to it every now and then, while I work on other things. I’ve let it tell me what it wants each new layer or small addition to be about. I’ve been doing my best to listen and give it what it wants. “This is not our world with trees in it. It's a “This is not our world with trees in it. It's a world of trees, where humans have just arrived.” It was my grandfather who first opened my eyes to the concept that most of the trees we live among have been around for generations. He lived through WWII and so have many trees he loved to admire. I was too young to really grasp the idea then, but now it’s something I think about all the time whenever I pass one of these beautiful giants. I painted ‘Sacred Being’ thinking about the wisdom this tree must hold, standing like a totem in the field. Oil on canvas Available from @csc_gallery

It was started a few weeks ago and has been waiting patiently for me to finish some other projects before I can return to it.
