The focus in my work is always on tone and form. To emphasise this, the figures in this series are portrayed in tints and shades of a single colour or a limited combination of colours, creating interesting and pleasing harmonies.
I am not interested in idealised beauty standards as I believe all bodies are beautiful, have immeasurable worth and should not be judged purely objectively. I strive to make paintings that evoke a sense of intimacy and portray the figures as objects of art, not sexual ones.
The names of the paintings are a play on words using women’s names that are also colours.
